Bill DeSteph has earned a reputation as one of the most responsive members of Virginia Beach City Council and
works to address the everyday needs of our citizens.
Animal lovers have fought for years to have a new, modern and "adoption friendly" animal shelter constructed in Virginia Beach. Without the help of Councilman Bill DeSteph, it is doubtful that the animals would have begun receiving the care they deserve and a second chance at a new home.
Bill DeSteph also stood firm in keeping the animal license fees dedicated to paying for the new animal shelter-not going into the general fund, not helping the animals as was intended.
When Virginia Beach City Manager Spore thought a tax increase was the only way to balance the city's budget, Bill DeSteph proposed an alternative budget that not only fully funded our city's operation, but it would also have lowered taxes.
When Bill DeSteph held a "town meeting" at the Great Neck Recreation Center, so many people attended that the dividers in the room had to be removed to accommodate the over 300 people that attended.
Bill DeSteph listened to the concerns of those citizens, and represented their interests before city council.
